My mother and my sister.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Tell us about your worst ever gig?<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>I\u2019m not saying I phoned in this performance, but I usually memorise my poems so that I can properly perform them. This one time, I hadn\u2019t managed to memorise the piece so I read from my book thinking I\u2019d be fine since I\u2019d have the words in my hands. I was not fine. I completely skipped the second line in my poem, kept losing my place, couldn\u2019t bring myself to look at anyone, skipped over all the beats and pauses. It was a mare. Safe to say I\u2019ve learnt my lesson: reading isn\u2019t easy.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>What<\/strong><strong>\u2019s your number one poetry pet peeve?<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>I can\u2019t do super long preambles. How are you telling me your preamble is longer than your poem?? I came here for poetry big man, I\u2019ve got podcasts at home.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Whose words do you love at the moment?<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Gabrielle Calvocoressi. I\u2019m obsessed with both of her Miss You poems and often find myself returning to them. Right now, I prefer \u2018Miss you. Would like to grab that chilled tofu we love.\u2019 but I know I\u2019ll eventually go back to preferring \u2018Miss you. Would like to take a walk with you.\u2019 and the cycle will never end.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>What piece of advice would you give to your younger self?<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Don\u2019t shy away from being different; lean into it and learn to grow up with yourself constantly.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>If you were stuck in a lift with a stranger, what song would you suggest you sing to keep your spirits up?<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>I wouldn\u2019t need a song. I\u2019d be that annoying person who would strike up a convo with them. And if they don\u2019t reciprocate, that\u2019s fine. I\u2019ve probably got books in my bag to keep me company. I\u2019d take my corner and sit down for some nice reading time. His work often explores masculinity, faith and identity. His short poetry film \u2018Cages\u2019 has been broadcast on BBC 4 and BBC iPlayer.
