Divided, we will fall.<\/h3>\n<div class=\"article-body\">\n<p>A\u00a0medley of compelling\u00a0spoken word performances,\u00a0<em><strong>Rallying Cry<\/strong>\u00a0<\/em>offers the stage to\u00a0some of the country\u2019s most outspoken artists\u00a0to address\u00a0the state of the nation\u00a0and imagine a better tomorrow.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Joelle Taylor<\/strong>, <strong>Chiedu Oraka<\/strong>, <strong>Zena Edwards<\/strong> and<strong> Francesca Beard<\/strong> perform newly commissioned work on the theme of protest. Interrogating the body as political placard, class and the desperate and challenging need for unity in this time of division,\u00a0<em>Rallying Cry\u00a0<\/em>is a call to action.<\/p>\n<p>With music from\u00a0South London DJ <strong>Conrad Kira<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Directed by <strong>Rob Watt<\/strong>. Design by <strong>Bethany Wells<\/strong>.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><em>\u2018After Rallying Cry, I feel like we can at least imagine a better tomorrow\u2019<\/em> \u2013 <strong>London City Nights<\/strong><\/p>\n<h4>Featuring<\/h4>\n<p><strong>CHIEDU ORAKA<br \/>\n<\/strong>Born and raised in Hull, Chiedu Oraka is a rapper and pioneer of the alternative urban scene, and hailed as the sound of northern working-class England. Chiedu has supported some of the UK&#8217;s leading Hip-Hop and Grime MCs.<\/p>\n<p><strong>FRANCESCA BEARD<br \/>\n<\/strong>Francesca Beard is an internationally acclaimed poet. She recently toured her solo show <em>Francesca Beard&#8217;s Post-Truth Apocalypse<\/em> while developing a new show, working title: <em>Confabulation<\/em>.<\/p>\n<p><strong>JOELLE TAYLOR<br \/>\n<\/strong>Joelle Taylor is an award-winning poet, playwright and author. She is the author of three full collections, including her latest:\u00a0<em>Songs My Enemy Taught Me<\/em>.<\/p>\n<p><strong>ZENA EDWARDS<br \/>\n<\/strong>Raised in Tottenham, Zena Edwards is one the most unique performance poets to come out of London.\u00a0 She has two one-woman shows,\u00a0<em>Security<\/em>\u00a0(2009) and\u00a0<em>Travelling Light<\/em>\u00a0(2011), which both toured internationally to critical acclaim.<\/p>\n<p><strong>CONRAD KIRA<br \/>\n<\/strong>MC\/Producer and DJ from South London, once described as the Grime Napoleon Dynamite.<\/p>\n<p>#RallyingCry<\/p>\n<p>Part of\u00a0the Albany&#8217;s\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.thealbany.org.uk\/news\/season-announcement-rebels\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">REBELS<\/a>\u00a0season. #AlbanyREBELS<\/p>\n<p>Photo: Suzi Corker<\/p>\n<\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The planet is spinning off its axis.
