Poetry as Reconnection: A Creative Writing Workshop with Poet Laurie Bolger<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Join poet Laurie Bolger, founder of The Creative Writing Breakfast Club<\/em>, for a warm and inspiring workshop inviting participants to imagine a future shaped by kindness and connection via nature and our animal selves.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Through individual and collaborative writing exercises Laurie will invite you to celebrate how the simple act of listening to nature and each other can lead to transformative change. Let your creativity flow, and together we\u2019ll reimagine a future where nature and humanity are good friends. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

This two hour session invites you to scribble your own individual poem, as well as a collective piece created by the group. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

So whether you\u2019re an experienced writer or a complete beginner, all you need is a curious mind and maybe a cuppa and your favourite pen to keep you company.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

About Laurie<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Laurie Bolger is a London-based writer and the founder of The Creative Writing Breakfast Club. <\/em>Her work has been showcased at Glastonbury, TATE, the Royal Academy, and Sky Arts. Laurie\u2019s work has appeared in The Poetry Review<\/em>, The London Magazine<\/em>, Magma<\/em>, Crannog<\/em>, Stand<\/em>, and Trinity College Icarus<\/em>, among others.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Her poems and short stories have been shortlisted for The Bridport, Live Canon, Winchester and the Sylvia Plath Prize. In 2023, her poem Parkland Walk<\/em> won The Moth Poetry Prize<\/em>, judged by Noble Laureate Louise Gl\u00fcck, and was also Highly Commended in the Forward Prize for Poetry<\/em>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Laurie runs Poetry & Nice Things<\/em>, a sustainable creative market stall. She\u2019s also published three poetry pamphlets: Box Rooms<\/em> with Burning Eye Books, Spin<\/em> with Smith Doorstop, and Makeover<\/em> with The Emma Press. Her debut collection, Lady<\/em>, is coming out later this year with Nine Arches Press.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This event is part of the\u00a0Richmond Arts & Ideas Festival 2025<\/a>\u00a0(13-29 June), exploring the theme Cultural Reforesting.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Join us and help us imagine a future where we have renewed our relationship with nature and, perhaps, overcome the ecological crisis. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Inspired by Amber Massie-Blomfield\u2019s book exploring the power of art to change the world, a fascinating set of voices, alongside yours will imagine the reforesting that needs to take place \u2013 in our cities and riverside communities.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This interactive event will gather around a long-table, centre-stage at Orange Tree Theatre, and as a finale take a walk and share our ideas with the river.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
